Our managers spend ALL day in the office. Sure they have paperwork and things to do, but thats what they're supposed to be doing on the days they come in way before the theatre is actually open. Since they aren't on the floor they have no clue as to how half of the staff really behaves, and then gives raises/promotions to those who only do their job correctly when being monitored. Specifically: people who left work to get food without their knowledge and constantly comes in high (after smoking in their car) and cant function properly, a supervisor who says that he hates teenagers to teens getting kicked out and then agrees to fight them after his shift who also makes racist, and sexist comments, and insults gays, and a supervisor who doesn't even know how to change times. We have a projectionist that constantly lies about everything, turns lights on in theatres, and changes mylars so that they're incorrect and blames it on the ushers. He also has gone around telling everyone that our GM does all of her personal shopping online during her shifts, including and order from Adam&Eve, an adult toy website. Whether this is true or not, its highly inappropriate, both on her and his part.
Not only is management a mess, but the theatre itself is too. The fridge and freezer are always disgusting, rarely cleaned out, and filled with things that produce a rotting smell. The hot dogs are left in an open bag surrounded by this stench surely absorbing it. They don't replace the hoses for the pop, or clean them thoroughly and so it tastes disgusting. Part of this tastes also has to do with the syrup quality, and CO2 balance.
Anyone over 18 is strongly discouraged from taking breaks, and on short handed days cashiers from concession and box sometimes have trouble getting bathroom breaks, even after working over 10 hours straight, Plus, we don't get paid overtime.
