life at Bemis Terre Haute
about
I have worked for Bemis Terre Haute for 20+years . I appreciate the life that I have had from my career there but, like most other employers in today's economy "no Mr. nice guy"They cut our hours as often as they can, restricted only by contract rules. We can not sit at all except on federally mandated breaks-this is a 12 hour shift-we even have to keyboard standing up.Our pay is flat but more production is continually expected from us.Once good work ethics were rewarded -now we only get a slap in the face. The constant down- sizing has caused many workers to be moved to lower paying jobs after 20+ years I'm afraid I will be next but I'm too old to leave and too young to retire. Is Bemis worse than most employers in the rust belt?Nope, this is the depression guys, you have to make the best of it.Support your union, its all you have ,as weak as it is.
