Happy Employee
I've been a long-time employee and feel that I have had a lot of great career growth opportunities here. (guess that’s why I stayed) It actually pays better than its competitors in the retail industry. Open door policy and immediate feedback are some of the things I really like. The environment is fun and engaging yet can be feverish at times depending on the number of customers in the store. Everyone is treated with respect and team environment is great.
In our store, we have a very professional and competent management team that is very flexible about personal issues and schedule. I am very satisfied as a whole. However, you got to actively show your ambition, otherwise you won’t get noticed.

hiring practices
I filled out a application and was told by another person there filling out a application that the woman I gave mine to threw it away as soon as I walked out the door. I was also told by people that were hired before the store opening that they hired people making them think they would be working in store once it opened but as soon as the store is stocked and ready for opening they are going to lay off a bunch of people. That sucks and so does the management of this store.

I am stunned to read the same issues over and over at different stores. What is wrong with this company? EVERY problem I read could be the store I have been at for 10 yrs. My store was a great place to work at in the beginning but has gone down hill the last 5 or 6 y.rs. What a shame. Train your managers properly and get some security! If the company can not afford these things & enough employees to staff properly then close the doors. It is becoming dangerous just to walk in the doors.

Burlington sucks big time, customers suck. Most of them are nasty ass people who can't even speak english and talk to you like you're shit. They come to America and treat us like crap and don't want to learn the language, but want to get every benefit they can. They shit and piss in the fitting room and steal whatever they can. Our hours get cut to crap after inventory. We get treated like crap from mgmt. also. There's gotta be a better way.

Almost everyone is entitled to pay for all hours worked and overtime compensation regardless of job title. If you, a co-worker, manager or asst. manager have worked off the clock without receiving pay or not received overtime, Call The Cochran Firm at 1-800-The-Firm

My store manager was always willing to work with me when I needed to change my availability. Starting pay was terrible compared to other retailers.

No security. Shoplifters galore. Management sucks big time. They are all constantly sitting in the office laughing and what not. Any time you page a manager and they have to come out of the office, they get sarcastic. They have one person on each floor to do price checks and one cashier on duty. If there happens to be a line, you have to get the one person to leave their department and drop whatever projects they are in the middle of. Then on the rare occasion when one of the associates does get to finish a project by herself, the manager will take credit for it and she didn't even lift a finger other than to get up off her ass to come out and delegate duties. This place is a real shithole to work at.

rude customers
The sign on the door of the store states the hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 9 p.m. Doors are unlocked for associates to get in (obviously they aren't going to spring for keys for everyone. Lights are off also, customers don't even care and walk in before the store opens and say they just have to get one thing or the doors are unlocked so I came in. So we either have to rush and count our drawer out and wait on them because they are so important they don't have to wait outside. What gives? They don't go into Macy's before they open. Just don't think that's right.

The front-end mangager at my store wouldn't know how to do customer service if it bit her in the butt. God forbid if she would actually have to go on the floor to help a customer (which she never does), do stock (I doubt she knows how to do that) and keep the store clean. What a waste of payroll.

wtf
I never thought that I could hate people as much as I do now that I work for that hellhole of a company. The pay is horrible the customers are ignorant on a good day and the managers want you to do five jobs while barely paying you for the one you were hired to do. They want to change rules every five minutes and then we you do things the way just told you to do they wanna change them again back to the way that they had it before. and then when you call them to do something they want to take a half hour to get down there if they come down at all. They want you to do crap they are supposed to do and then want to turn on you. the go from 0-insane in 5.5 seconds.
