I NEVER KNEW i HAD THIS MUCH HATE

Part (2of 2)

The managers let the customers treat you in anyway they want to. They can talk to you like crap but the second you defend yourself you’ll get in trouble. But they will pull you aside AFTER the customer leaves and tell you that you were right…YOU COUNLDNT DEFEND ME IN FRONT OF THEM? They constantly say that THIS is the policy, but when you tell a customer they say they don’t like that they’re quick to say that they’re override it……making you look like you don’t know what you’re talking about. They want you to drop everything and come running when they need you….ok I DO have a freakin life outside that hellhole.
And then they don’t put the schedule up until the last possible min. sometimes. Ok I need to know so that I can make plans.
OH if you call out in the weekend its an automatic write up. So I could be in the hospital with my guts hanging out but I’ll still get a write-up. I’ve seen people there ready to pass out but they had to come in or they would have gotten written up
And the pay…….it sucks ass. People laughed when I said how much I make. I hate the place with a passion. I mean I’ve sat at work and cried about how much I hate that place. Bottom line they wanna pay 7-8 dollars an hour….I’m only gonna do 7-8 dollars an hour worth of work.

They cut everyone's hours back. No raises in God knows how many years. Job sucks, management sucks, customers are rude and obnoxious. Store gets ripped off big time, No security or LP so cashiers have to do that job too in addition to ringing out customers and doing returns. And customers that do happen to want to shop there have their choice of about 5 shopping carts in the whole store. Yet we're harrassed to no end about getting customers phone numbers and getting customers to take their stupid surveys and the store can't even provide shopping carts for their customers.
P.S. I was being kind in giving the star in the poor category, they shouldn't even get that.

Have been seeing a nasty trend lately. At our store they don't lay you off or fire you, just don't give you any hours but keep you on the scedule. That way they don't have to pay you any unemployment. Is this even legal?

fair ratings

been there for 2 yrs now and no raise. the benefits were taken from full timers. part timers work full time hours and don't get vacation days as a full timer does.

The demise of the American worker

Where the managers of invidiual stores are micro-managed. Why because most managers in the stores don't have college degrees or people skills. They are micro-managed because they don't have what it takes to manage on their own.

Where seasonal people were asked over employees with good working records and years of service to accept full-time positions. It didn't matter that we have a high rate of unemployment in this area and that many part-timers who had full-time jobs outside of Burlingtons , have lost their full-time jobs and need to work.

Where store management stresses eye contact and verbal communication with every shopper. Where store management passes you while you are working and doesn't look or speak to you.

Where shoppers/thieves leave thie front of the store with bags of merchandise and are asked to return to the service desk, but keeping walking. Where employees can't wear their coats to the door after their shift (concealment of merchandise), where their purses are checked for merchandise at the end of their shift.

Where customers report to store management that employees are watching them and they don't like it. Where store management watches us on cameras and we have no choice.

As many of us need to work where we can find work, we will continue to work on.

Americans become more aware of how the job market and economy are changing and remember those troops who died from our freedom or at least here in Burlington - a lack of.

unfair practices

I have been with burlington for almost 9 years. We had a management change almost 2 years ago and that is when alot of problems started. Our hours are constantly being changed, we have 5 or 6 employees who have gotten 0 hrs. since the first of the year, people who have been with our store up to 7 years. We have part time employees that have only been with us a few months being promised 40 hrs. and then 0 for the people who have been here longer. And it is not a work ethic situation. Very concerning. We can't get any answers about any HR questions, none of the management knows how things are being handled. I have been told by my store manager and HR manager that I should not be getting vacation and sick pay even though I was hired in 2001. I do get those benefits, they just think it's a mistake! READ the manual folks.

not a good place

I've worked in my store for about a year and a half. It is the worst job I've ever had. They make you fill out availability forms and then the mgr. tells you that they are not important and you need to work when they need you to work. Why do they even bother making you fill them out. I guess it depends on who you are. The one I work in, I am pretty much the oldest in the dept., mostly h.s. and college kids and they all get whatever they want and I have another job and gave them my availability and was told the above. They have parties and such but they only tell a select few and not everyone is privy to them. Some people are allowed to keep purchases in their lockers and nothing is said and everyone else has to keep theirs up at the register. Double Standard in this store. They only have a handful of shopping carts in the store when obviously more are needed and they don't even have the decency to order more. Customers constantly complaining. Too many returns. Rude customers cough in your face and don't bother covering their mouths. They can't speak English. We have to ask for telephone numbers and get written up if you don't get them. Need I go on?

Almost everyone is entitled to pay for all hours worked and overtime compensation regardless of job title. If you, a co-worker, manager or asst. manager have worked off the clock without receiving pay or not received overtime, Call The Cochran Firm at 1-800-The-Firm

worst job I've ever had. Management stinks. They hand out availability forms for you to fill out and then when you do, they don't stick to it when they make the schedule. I was told by my manager that those forms are not important and that I had to work when they needed me to. I guess it's who you know or whatever the case. I see other employees who are not scheduled when they need to be in school or at other jobs and I have another job and I needed a certain availability and they just didn't give a hoot and scheduled me for days when I needed to be at the other job. When I asked the mgr. about it she told me that my availability wasn't important and I needed to work whatever days they needed me to. They have parties there and only certain people are privy to them. They never have weekly meetings like they should just to let everyone know what's going on. This store only has a handful of shopping carts which is a problem because people would buy more things if they have shopping carts to put their purchases in. Some associates are allowed to keep purchases in their lockers and others are frisked at the door when leaving. Complete double standard. Not right. This is definitely the worst place I ever worked in.

I have only been with Burlington for a little over a year and I am already semi-tired of it. You have to fill out availability forms and then they pay no mind to them, it doesn't matter if you're in school or at work. On the other hand, the managers are great and know how to handle the employees well. My store has secret santa, parties for every holiday and decorations in the break room. The employees generally participate but not all.
