slave labor

I worked there for seasonal work. In the beginning they had me as a packer.. I would drive in 45 minutes only to be sent home. They give a 15 minute break where it take 6 minutes to walk out and wait on line for metal detector.Takes 3 to walk back. Where's the break?
They took me off packing and sent me to support for autboxing. The punk kid running that dept was barking different orders at me every 5 minutes. Telling me to speed it up and take 2 carts at a time. The machines always breaking down and boxes have to be manuallly removed and reloaded. If i stopped moviing for 5 secoind he was giving me shit. The more i did the more work I got. The other people who were slow go easy jobs for the same money. All the full timers and management won't even say hello or act friendly which told me somehting was up. 12 hour days of manual labor some fat supervisor drives up in a cart because he won't walk the 1200 feet back and forth nonstop like i do pushing carts for 12 hours and give us a tlak where we have to pick it up and put it in 3rd gear. I would have liked to ran him over and dragged him with his electric cart in 3rd gear.
Not to mention the 30 people they hire every week to replace the ones that had enough.

When there's no work they will call you an hour before you come in a have a lower person tell you "you've been removed from schedule" after you wasted your whole day to go to work.

Also they don't give you pay stubs. You must make appointment to register online. Can't do it yourself.

Customer service and corperate values

I wanted to use a a gift certificate to purchase an American made pair of boots. Cabellas had literaly no boots that were not marked MADE IN CHINA. I checked on two seperate visits and was told by the clerks 1. Our customers are two cheap to buy American made boots 2. They do not make American made Boots. 3. We do not need to sell American made boots cause we have alot of customers.
I complained through customer service and Cabelas has not responded in over two weeks

Very funnny thing...clicked on the Carreers site todayu and low and belhold they have the lone black guy in the corp office walking through the door acting as a vendor. Funny how they attempt to portray a diverse atmosphere...... If you're a women you can get a admin or inventory job, otherwise you better have nuts if you're to make any bucks or a good set of knee-pads.

i recently worked for the wheeling store alot of skilled people that was knowledgeable on products have been left go since the store opened up in 2004. what has happened is as several customers has asked me what is cabelas hiring kids that have no experience in the hunting industry. i had one customer say what you have working there you can find in the wal-mart check out line which was emberrasing. but hit it right on the head. this outfit needs to go back to where it was in 2004.the employees that made the company are very mistreated. there is alot of things that is hushed up by suvervisors not wanting corperate to find out. as soon as coperate flys in the back to sucking up to the employees. needs looked into.these people are very deserving people that work there.

when i started working for cabelas i thought it was a great company. after watching the turn over and listening to people in the break rooms talk how dissatifed they were and how people are treated there, iam convinced that this company needs to have a union to protect the employee. as a employee for several years i feel i can comment that this company needs new mangement. there are some of the hard working employees that make this company successful. alot of the corperate people need to talk to the employees them personally. the gallop survey is a joke asking how your supervisor carres,how your treatedand many more questions that are never answered.the people that work there have bills like every other american but are affraid to speak for there job.there is a old saying the employee is the backbone of the company.and there is alot of truth to that saying. there core values of honesty and integerty need to be looked at by them. to each and every employee talk to your friends stay together strong and go union. and protect your self. this message is for the wheeling store.you employees deserve commission on products,and need to be commeded on a great job that you do.

Cabela's corp. is ok but they treat you like an indentured servant. The town of Sidney is nothing short of wierd. My familiy came to refer to it as hooterville during the 3 years we lived there. They know they are the only game in town so they treat thier staff like a comodity. Don't like it? Go ahead and leave but good luck unloading your house. If you take a job there wait at least 3 years before you buy so you will be sure you are going to stay.

THEY WILL NOT SHIP TO CANADA BECAUSE THEY SAID WE HAVE A STORE HERE IN CANADA FOR CANADIANS TO SHOP AT.
