Terrible Management

about
No matter how much you know and how good employee you are if you manager doesn't like you, you go down. Politics and favoritism are big deal specially in Corporate Marketing Communications group. The two main managers are terrible managing, they live in the 1970s.

Mis-management in Canada

about
Two employees (good workers) were given the package and layed off. But two others wanted to be laid off with a package. Why couldn't management ask who wanted to be laid off and deal with them first? The first two employees wanted to keep working, I know that for a fact. They could have been kept on if they had layed off the ones that wanted to be layed off.
Plant manager, who has the ultimate power to decide employee's fate so make sure you don't get on his bad side, never comes out to chat with the people in the machine shop (must not like blue collar workers- especially the educated ones). And yet has the power to dictate whatever he wants from his managers.
Appoints managers that know nothing about machine shops. So really no leadership in the shop.
Management pushes safety and yet does not enforce it.
For example, long hair in machine shop is a no no, yet people still have long hair.
Interlocks were installed on most machines and one or two of them are bypassed (one 100% of the time).
Management assigns the smallest worker on the largest machines, where the wrenches weight almost as much as the worker!
Workers that acquired injuries from pulling wrenches on lathes and/or other machinery, were the first to get laid off, instead of relocating them to Quality control or some other position. That's real dirty!

The good things about working at Cameron are;
Take smoke breaks anytime of the day, as many as you want, as long as it's outside the building.
Employees can smash up as many tools and toolholders and not even be question as to why this happens.(this is really cool!)
Use of cell phones in the shop seems to be OK and length of time to use them doesn't matter.
I-pods are used a lot as well (most of the time with machine running).
Anyone can go chat with anyone at anytime for long periods at a time. (really cool!)
Good pension plan. (awesome!)

My husband was fired, for not wanting to do a dangerous job alone, he had been having problems with his boss, the boss told the other supervisor that my husband didnot obey him, and the supervisor said he dont see nothing wrong with the word obey they dont even us obey in wedding vows anylmore how are you gonna tell a grown man that, the was provoking him right there. he went to the office several times, and got not help from his supervisors, So he got upset cause he didnt know what or where to go, and left, well on monday they fired him he had been there for 14 years, for abandonment of job what else was he supossed to do, I just don't think it was fair, my husband was dedicated, to that job never late, never missed any day, and then to top it off the next day we found out after that they got two people to go and do the job, I think they just wanted him go. but its okay because God got it.

Great Perks here

about
The organization has quite a number of perks such as a canteen and transport for the staff from door to door. This is very convenient if you live far from the facility. The technical talent here is second to none. I have met and worked with numerous engineers and scientists who are top notch and yet enjoyable to work with. I believe when compared to our competitors, Cameron has the best training in the industry. The management is very open to new ideas. Work load is moderate at times, but during peak periods, one has to stay late to get it done. But that is fine as it is for short periods of time.
