You will learn a lot at Chevron. You will be expected to know your job, the jobs that feed into your work, and how your work affects the next person in the workflow. Great company to work with to learn domestic and international operations. Expect that there will be layoffs anywhere in the company every six months. Make sure that you are very close with your manager and in good with their manager. Learn as much as you can and try to move around every 1.5 years.

- Chevron has this mentality of giving their employees the lowest level of anything. If the person accepts, then they don't have to work any harder.
- Lack of integrity, trust, character.
Compensation is based on job title regardless of experience. If you have (5+ years) of managerial experience) prior to hiring on, they will make you an advisor, etc. You will hire on as though you had received a demotion at your last company. If you are early in your career, they will give you a pay grade scale equal to someone entering fresh from college. This is not negotiable.
- If you do anything slightly wrong, they will publicly humiliate you around their bosses and say how ignorant you are within earshot of you.
- If you ask for help when you have exhausted your options on seeking advice from manager's, my boss slammed his door hard on me and cursed me out for coming to him.
- One boss will sabotage your future when you seek promotions to different business units.
- Favoritism toward international co-workers, especially Venezuelans.

- They will deduct out of your paycheck a parking fee to park in their designated parking garage (non-reserved space).
- The medical plans are expensive with inadequate coverage.
- They will assign you an direct supervisor from San Ramon who is an HR pawn and is not reliable.
- Kiss butt. Manager's assume you will pucker up.
- Their idea of career advancement is to move you into another business unit with the same job title or into a mundane role regardless of your career development plan.
- You have to be best friends with you boss for you to have a strong employer evaluation, despite if

Huge number of layoffs to come

about
As a big company, Chevron is not expected to make layoffs because companies like this don't get much affected by declining economy.

We have heard that the company is again making huge number of layoffs this year and further next year.

I think, management should take different aspects in consideration before implementing this step.

Source of Satisfaction

about
Now day’s oil marketing companies are getting lots of fuss from environmental organizations like green peace etc. They are imposed with the greater responsibility of looking after the atmosphere. Getting green is the slogan of today. I am working in the company at their environment concern department for the last three years. It’s a mix bag experience over here. Sometimes it like bitter syrup on other day you may find the utter satisfaction. The most jubilant moment came into my life while my stay at the company. I was attending the Parent’s Day meeting at my daughter’s school. She filled me with joy, when she declared that my Dad is working hard to make a safer and better atmosphere for us in the future

I was laid off

about
If you like a lot of uncertainties, surprises, then this is the place for you. Surprises come up all the time, and there is no one way to deal with it. There were so many problems I faced during only 4 years. As a matter of fact, I was laid off but was not compensated well. Although we hadn't been affected much by recession, we had to face dramatic layoffs and cost cutting...
