I was a Process Engineer at Dana Corporation (Spicer Off Highway Driveshaft Center), Sterling IL in 2003 and 2004. This was my first opportunity back in the workforce after graduate school. I look at my days in Sterling IL with nostalgia and fondness. Overall, the people I worked with were really nice. Jon Head was a great supervisor. He was a great Plant Manager. Others like Mark Daily, Albert Kinser, Ken Olds, Alfred Olalde, and others were just as supportive. They made Dana a great place to work. I wish that Dana's luck as a corporation is better (bankruptcy, layoffs, etc). Dana does not realize the kind of talent they have.

Another round of layoff

Dana has laid off many employees and is still laying off. We are under threat of another round before this year ends. We are hoping to stay back here.

Dana is a well known brand in the market and it is respected well out there by its competitors too. I sometimes feel proud to work here, but truly speaking I am not very happy with the perks I am provided here. OK, I have no issue on salary package (it is average) but the facilities we get are not competitive to other companies in the same position. While overall senior mgmt is ok, but some people in middle management are biased and try to promote those who they KNOW well. Luckily, my immediate boss is collaborative and takes my concerns in consideration, but he is himself restricted to some limits.
