I'm a Walden House graduate who worked at Daytop for 8 years during two stints. I had so many incredible experiences with both programs, WH in San Francisco and Daytop Adolescent in Redwood City CA. I owe my life to the TC and 31 years later I am still giving back. I hope to God that Daytop survives the current flap or whatever it is. It's already too bad that the politicians and insurance companies have combined to water down the TC by forcing clients and programs to take the shorter and less comprehensive route to recovery. I don't know but I always felt that the guts of the programs were watered down over time. Nevertheless I still go to WH and Out Common Ground (new name for Daytop Adolescent after separating from Daytop). I've met some of the greats, Devlin, Monsignor, Deitch, Acampora and I've dedicated my life to helping others, thanks to the power of the TC and the giants who came before.

I JUST WANT TO SAY ABOUT A COUNSELR I DEALT WITH HIS NAME IS MATTHEW SWARTZ, HE IS ALL ABOUT NOT DOING HIS JOB CORRECTLY!
hE PLAYS A GOOD GAME NEVER RETURNS CALS, AND I HAVE NOW MADE A COMPLAINT WITH OASIS. ALL HE DOES IS SAYS ONE THING AND DOES SOMETHING ELSE I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND HOW HE IS A COUNSELOR. WHATEVER YOU DO DONT GO TO A DAYTOP UNLESS YOUR ON WELFARE,,, BECAUSE IF YOU DONT HAVE INSURANCE THEY WILL TAKE ALL THE MONEY YOU HAVE, AND SCREW YOU YOU WITH TASK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sadness about DVI

It has greatly saddened me that the once mighty Daytop Village has become a pit of incompetence and corruption. Daytop was a place where the staff genuinely cared and worked based on their belief in the mission. Nowadays, what motivates most staff members is how to do the very least and go home. Some are truly committed; however, their morale is so low its only a matter of time before we leave.

Senior management like Charlie Devlin, Msgr O'Brien, Frank Lanza, Louise Noll, Karen Szurek, Cheryl Nazario are all gone, replaced by self absorbed, ncompetent, mean spirited people from a place called Palladia (which is nothing buy a glorified shelter that was poorly ran and is under Medicaid investigation for fraud).

If Daytop is ever to survive, it needs to bring in competent, hard working people who believe in its mission. Not self serving unqualified, self absorbed people like the newly unqualified VP of Outpatient service who does not even have a CASAC T.

Daytop needed a change at the top.it was going in the wrong direction with the staff they had in place.you would think now the new staff would be improving the quality of the program.Daytop in far rockaway has now become a unsafe place to send your children.This statement can be back up by facts .The precinct in the area will give you police reports on all outstanding incident in that facility.I will factually address all area of the program every week including the ghost on the pop and many more area. We will fight in the court of public opinion until change in a positve direction happen

layoffs on 3/30/10 Daytop Village

we rec'd a memo that there will be layoffs on march 30th, just before the holiday or even during passover. Yes, I'm nervous and the entire staff at Daytop Village. We had a layoff and salary reduction last year, now we will have unpaid leave and layoffs. Yes, it's scary, but we must face our fears. May god bless the employees at Daytop.
