There seems to be a lack of appreciation.
You can easily fill a week with nothing but communication meetings.
The company would prefer to cut head count rather than reward employees for accomplishments.

Dow layoffs

I was laid off by Dow Texas division in 1994. The day before my boss told me how poor my performance was compared to others. Among my peers I was considered one of the hardest workers. I later asked to see my personnel folder and found nothing but great comments. I concluded they chose me because my husband had a very good job. I was over 50. They did give me a "can't sue the company" package" that was fabulous. I got more if I was willing to take it as an IRA rather than cash. I invested carefully and have had great success with that money. I never did go back to work.

selfish and pathetic!

My boyfriend is a contractor for Dow Chemical at the moment, and my Father works directly for Dow. Both have been laid off recently, among with literally THOUSANDS of others. How heartless of a company to lay off it's employees/contractors, especially right before the holidays!!! Who in the hell is in charge of these layoffs? All of you "big wigs??!!" And why do they (layoffs) always seem to happen right at about the worst time of the year? At least all of you"BIG" guys wont have to worry about going broke, or if you will have enough food to feed your family and etc. etc.!! This isn't the only time this guiltless Company has done a major layoff. Thanks a lot for absolutely NOTHING Dow Chemical!!!!

I started seeing a psychiatrist b/c I was under so much stress. The Dr. suggested that I quit and look for another job. Just when I had decided to quit, my manager pulled me aside and accused me of lying on some tracking sheets! I was outraged b/c I never lied so I decided not to quit b/c he threatened me by saying if I quit he wouldn't tell anyone I had lied! I told him I wasn't quitting but that I did want to transfer out of his office!
The transfer process has been going on for months now, and during that time I have put up w/SO much emotional abuse! I stay just b/c I know he wants me to quit and it bothers me that during the course of 12 months he has forced 6, yes SIX people to resign! Its an office of four, so you do the math on how many times he's re-staffed the whole office!
