This is just my opinion. As a company they are solvent. No debt. As for actually working there, well this is a different matter. The management is made up of primarily blind brain washed people. They cannot see the poor moral of the work force and they believe everything is rosy. There is no HR department to take complaints to or handle or over view employee relations. They have an employee relations department but that is only for benefits. The CIO is the sun in-law of the CEO. He is blind and clue less as to how the lower manages are treating the work force. Most are very unhappy and worried for their jobs, under extreme stress. The only thing keeping most of them there is the economy. They promise training but deliver nothing. The only training you get is what you find on your own at your own expense. Occasionally your will receive the odd training class but only if someone manages to make a deal with the vendor to ship goods with them. The training class you receive is sub standard. If you get a poor review you cannot move out of the department you are in. You are blocked. Never voice your opinion against the management or you will find yourself on the “I’m looking for a job” list because they will find a way to rate you down and you have no re course. This company is full of nepotism and good old boys clubs. If you do not party with the boss do not receive favorable reviews. Many of the managers brag about how many people they have terminated. My opinion of the IT department is it is run by inept uninformed managers. The stress level is over the top. Managers do not truly care about their employees. The only thing they care about is looking good to upper management. “If I look good you look good. Make me look good or you out.” The management styles is from the 60’s, rule by fear and threaten employees with termination. IMHO

Many reasons to work here

about
The best reasons to work at UPS would definitely be related to the idea of seeing what it is like to work for a company that places an extremely high value on efficiency and technological advances. The job security is great. The benefits are still good despite the economy. People come first - it is a family environment. They don't lay people off. They are committed to making everyone feel welcome. This job can also be helpful for a college student because of the tuition reimbursement. The company offers a 401k plan for retirement, which is very helpful. I would be willing to bet that if asked every single employee could tell you what their purpose is and why. I would also be willing to be that the answer would always end with a customer driven purpose. We know why we are here. It isn’t about us.
