Federal Mogul's Logansport facility is poisoned by an ongoing battle of wills between the Technical Director and the Engineering Manager. Suffice it to say that the Engineering Manager is in over his head, and was only promoted to his current position because of inside connections at higher corporate levels. Do not cross this guy at any price, or your life will be more miserable than it already is. All project engineers and technicians are stressed, unfriendly, and have a general sense of anger about them all the time. Everyone seems to be in job-protection mode, trying to protect their own little corner of imagined job security. Also note that they conduct all new designs at this "state of the art" facility on an outdated 2D CAD system called Kubotek. It is slow, tedious, and requires way too much manual input. Be aware that no one else in the world uses this software, and you will gain absolutely no marketable skills by trying to use it.

It's reasonable to work here

This is a stable Auto Parts Manufacturing company with reasonably good benefits; many people have been working here for more than 10 years. Overtime is offered which is good for hourly employees up to certain extent. The managers at the mid level are good but I am not satisfied with upper level management. Incredible level of technology exposure - optics, mechanics, software, materials, systems, distributed computing, algorithm development and much more, it’s more than an auto parts company from learning point of view.

Job Insecurity

about
Job insecurity is a major problem of employees here, no matter how senior you are or what performance you have displayed. You will always remain under constant fear of layoff. Plus management has also reduced pay scale for new hires. Also the environment is extremely political, you scratch my back and I'll scrath yours type of group. It's difficult to perform well in this frustrating environment.
