I was axed

The company I worked for (Hanesbrands), was not what I had expected to be. A friend of mine had already been working for it and he referred me there. When I was joining it, I was happy that I am going to be a part of that big company. But my all expectations were dashed when I got to know the real environment inside.
To cut it short, in a round of layoff, I was axed and I thought whatever happens, happens for good.
