management made what was an innovative and rewarding company into a a soulless, failing organization. The development group is run well, but seriously think twice about working here if you report to the VP of Product Development, she's a nightmare to work for.

The bad decisions that happen at this place every day are mind boggling. The worst decision they ever made was to bring in the VP of HR, as she destroyed the little bit of positive energy and culture that HMS had. Keep in mind, a 6 ounce cup of yogurt has more culture than HMS does.
The CEO is incompetent as a CEO, he has no people skills and does nothing to inspire the team. He is basically a baby sitter to the rest of the management team who are a bunch of back stabbing, childish, incompetent, arrogant, self serving idiots. The best thing that ever happened to me was getting laid off, my life has improved dramatically since leaving this place.
There is so much dishonesty in this place, the Senior Managment team lies to each other, they lie to the employees (this I experienced first hand in oh so painful ways), and they lie to customers and partners.
Their customer base is shrinking, their employees are miserable, and their investors must be freaking out about how much money they are going to lose because of the extreme incompetence of this management team.
I would LOVE to go back, fire every single member of the management team (with maybe the exception of Jeff and the new VP's of Sales, don't know enough about them) and make that place the awesome place it USED to be before these idiots destroyed it.

Do not work here if you can help it.

Do not do business with them if you can help it.

If you do either, you WILL regret it sooner than later.

HMS: Horrible Management Staff

HMS should stand for Horrible Management Staff. The are the biggest group of incompetent, back stabbing, childish misfits I have ever had the misfortune of meeting in my life. Trust me, it starts from the top.

You can not trust anyone on the senior management team any further than you can throw a Buick. At one time, I was on the management team and I was lied to so many times, it is mind boggling. At the time I was drinking the Kool Aid, but, with 20/20 hind sight can see that it was all lies.

Not only do they lie to their employees, but, they lie to their customers and prospects even more. People should really think twice about doing business with them, you will be sorry. They also lie to their partners, so, I wouldn't want to get in bed with them, you will be screwed if you partner with HMS.

I have never worked in a company that made me so stressed out day to day. No matter how hard you work here, you'll never get any appreciation. There are way too many politics in such a small organization. Few opportunities to rise up, and tons of gossip. The gossip starts up high and trickles its way down. Very unfortunate to have this company as part of my work history. one good thing is that being in the trenches with good people has helped my network incredibly. there are so many ex-employees with a common hatred for HMS that we all are commiserating together. Most ex-HMS employees have moved on to bigger and better things. Be wary of the senior management. It is no joke that they are known to be catty, judgmental, sexist, cold, and manipulative to get their way.

Lawsuits

Keep in mind that this company loves to enter into lawsuits...they sue EVERYONE!
Lots of ex-employees have sued or been sued by them.
This is a great indication of the nefarious manner in which they deal with other companies, emplyees and even their (shrinking) customer base!

Terrible! You give them years of your life and dedication, and all they do is back stab you and try to ruin you! Stay away! Senior management is the worst!

terrible company culture. Lots of backstabbing and politics that drive out even good people. Stay far away. This place is a nightmare.

As Bad As It Gets

The only chance this company has for survival is if every single one of the people in Senior Management are fired. Maybe with the exception of the new COO, he seems to be a relatively competent and sane person.
Even in this economy, their turnover is extremely high.
The CEO, EVP of Sales, VP of HR and the SVP of Product Development can not be trusted, period.
Incompetency is running rampant through this management team. Why Edison Venture Fund allows these people to continue to make bad decision after bad decision is a mystery.
Bottom line is this: Unless you are DESPERATE for a job / benefits, do yourself a favor and avoid this company. I knew it was dysfunctional when I was there, but, now that I am working in a much more sane and stable environment where I am really, really happy, I realize how truly awful it is there.

A bad mark on your resume.

After working here for years, it became evident to me that there were very unethical practices happening. The company has too many ex-alumni of excellent people who left on their own accord or because of the various layoffs that have happened over the years. The ex-alumni of this young company is in the hundreds! HMS will over work you, take every inch of dedication you have and exploit it, and rub your face in it when you leave. Once I left on my own accord, I began to hear even more horror stories from others who have been taken advantage of. This is not a good company to work for.
