Lay Off

I was laid off several years ago when they decided to move my function to Chicago and NY. Fifteen managers were let go in this move. One year after this they decided to move everything back and built a bigger department. What they did not tell us was that the folks who were laid off were older than the average HSBC employee and the ultimate replacements were all younger. This is not a place anyone should work

Constant HSBC layoffs

The company as a whole is too big and cumbersome. At times there were feelings of dissatisfaction of not knowing if your work matters. Promotions and layoffs are based on who brown noses the best and favoritism rather than on merit. The ink has not dried for one layoff round when another is already announced. Morale is very low among employees due to thousands of layoffs globally.
