If you don't play the game, you get lost in the crowd.

They routinely try to make up for this by pressuring employees to provide the customer with unpaid/undocumented man hours. The team have to pull together to over come the weak management link.

Decisions and processes take a while to get done

The only way to grow a decent salary is to leave the company and come back with an offer, or be a TA to some director/VP.

There is a lot of politics

about
The healthcare plans and benefits in general seem to be on a relative decline over the past couple of years. Slow moving, very large company with limited movement potential into Sr. Mgmt.

Treats young employees well

about
There are many innovative ideas in terms of projects to work on. It is relatively easy to transfer within the company. The breadth of career fields employed by Lockheed Martin makes it a great company to begin working for.

I worked as an intern at Lockheed Martin

about
I was satisfied with the projects and felt they were interesting. There were lots of smart and intelligent people. But Lockheed Martin's internship program seemed to be a bit lacking when it came to keeping interns busy.

I got laid off two months ago. I was actively working projects, but my supervisor tells me that he's laying me off because he didn't have any work for me to do. Actually, he chose to dump me and to protect other employees who could retire but were too f***** greedy to. It was supposed to be about cutting positions and realignment but it was really a free for all where first line supervisors could get rid of people they didn't like without facing wrongful termination suits (or so they think). The thing is - they didn't have to lay off anybody. The CEO didn't get his usual outrageous bonus this year. Members of the good ole boy club remain, sipping coffee, playing solitaire and surfing the net. After being out in the job market for 2 months I realize that I will be unemployed for a long time because there's nothing else. I regret the day I ever met the LM recruiter. Before I went there I had goals and dreams - and a good position somewhere else that I shouldn't have left. Now,,, I don't know what.
