I worked for lowes close to three years. my first two years were fine until I found more about the bs this company has. they love to fire people before there 90 days are up. also I could not get a day off for doctors appointment. I need my medication for mental health issues. but they don't know that and nor do I want to tell them. counting this company I had the same job in retail for five years as a cashier. would not promote me or anything. I was partime working 38 hours not a problem until my grandfather passes away. I get my time off for that. but when I try to cut my hours to help my grandmother get better they wont let me cut my hours or be on the weekend team. I was in school part time also they worked with my school schedule but not my new life plans after my grandpa passed away. so I had to quit. I was making decent money for retail also. I proably should have collected unemployment since they would not budge my hours. i also tried to apply to other jobs but they denined me and hired outside people of those. lowes is cheap on labor i should have asked for more money. since i could not get days off i had to quit. i had also been held at gun point. lack of help and rotation of staff to different areas to throw off criminals. this broke the camels back. thanks for the rant hallway.

Iworked for Lowes for 9yrs.theThe past year when new store manager started,Iwas constantly being called to office for write ups .with false accusations.first write up Iwas not even working that shift.Went to the hr out of store ,because my sm and hr threatend me, saying your on the verege of being fired and no one likes working with you.I was getting sick over this. The hr from out of the store helped it got better, our store had intervention.then things started up again.Iworked alot of ot because we had no help.had a 6000 dollar blind order to cut .Had to beg managment for help so I could get it cut. Got it done store sm gave me a high 5 for getting it done. Went on vacation came back not on schedule , they were training a new girl in my dept.Called me back to office we have to terminate you your not doing your job.Icould not belive it ,that was another lie.Iwas covering for 2 dept.all month because we had no help staying over, and being thanked by my zone manager.WHATS GOING ON WITH LOWES? THIS IS NO WAY TO TREAT A 9YR ASSOCIATE.WALK THEM OUT LIKE A CRIMINAL.WAS IT RETALIATION FOR GOING OUT OF THE STORE FOR HELP?

HURT AND UPSET

about
Company wants managers on the floor but often hinders that goal.
Be more aware of who is working hard and who is hardly working.

Lowe's is not a good company to work for.

about
My co-workers gave me a lot of respect but management did not. Work environment crappy; benefits so-so, job security, nil, they like to fire people, co-worker competence was great; location okay. Anybody working for them, don't cost them money and be aware of any and all company policies or if you violate them, you can be fired for "willful" misconduct and get no unemployment.

I was let go...

about
After working with the company for almost two years, and advancing into a management position I was stunned to find that line level employees who I was training to work for me were making three to ten dollars more an hour than I was. The HR Rep is out for her own gain, and is always finding ways to create investigations on employees for the most frivolous things. The pressure is unbelieveable and there are few rewards. Employees are not allowed to talk to each other, or even be friends outside of work! What a crap hole!

Problems I need to address

about
I started 4 weeks ago as a seasonal and was really hired I was told for a CDL delivery driver position that was coming up. I worked the mulch sale as a loader and was the only one out there most of the time and complained when no help was provided since I had up to 8 cars aiting at a time. Well since I requested help since I'm a 54 year old male and me loading over 2000 bags in a 8 hour period should not be a problem she said I would not leave that position till july. I live in Florida and had skin cancer on my face removed in the mid 90s I requested a inside position as a loader or anything and she told me not transfers and if I couldn't handle it to just quit which I did and thursday is my last day. I quit a job for this and have a perfect work record with 15 years each at 2 companies I didn't do anything wrong and received great praise for my hard work duting the 2 weeks the mulch sale and price match was on. I thought companies had to look out for people with disabilities but I guess lowe's doesn't.

age discrimination

about
I did not realize that Lowes was a company that practiced age discrimination. I furnished over 35 years of experience in the appropriate field to fill a new job at a local store. I have performed the job function better than current employees, while a customer. went to there bullshit, scripted interview and was summarily denied, by some punk that looked like some street person in a Lowes vest. AGE is the only short coming I had. What a bunch of corporate assholes.

What project are you working on?

about
Hey all, I work at store 0139 in PA. I have recently worked at two other Lowe's stores... I kinda like to see the different stores and how they run.... Its all VERY different store to store. I've been with the company about...4 years. I am currently a dept manager and love the job. The people on the other hand.....could use some slap shots. Just thought I would throw in my two cents on how much I hate "clicks" and think there should be a policy on not allowing them...ha ha. Drama isn't my thing and every store has it. If it didn't exist, my life would be SUPER PEASANT.

I am currently working as a HR personnel in the company for the last five years. My job is to motivate and train people at the company. It's amazing how, if you hate your job, it seems like everyone else does, too. If you are very stressed out, it seems like everyone else is, too. Enthusiasm is contagious. If you're enthusiastic about your job, it's much easier for others to be, too. Also, if you're doing a good job of taking care of yourself and your own job, you'll have much clearer perspective on how others are doing in theirs. A little change in your perspective can bring great enhancement in your work and family, and I advocate the issue very strongly.
