I know a lady who works in Germany as a Sales Rep. she brags about how much money she earns. She says she gets paid to eat dinner with doctors and their staff and to invite them to boring meetings to listen to other doctors lie about Merck products.

Employees are not sufficiently valued and there is very limited opportunities for professional growth. They have so many employees so you are easily replaced. There is low work morale at Merck due to constant layoff announcements by management. Generics have the potential to erode profits in the future and this is stressful for current employees who often wonder what will happen when patients expire.

The company has a great culture where people still talk to each other instead of using emails 100% of the time. The health insurance coverage is great but the pension plan pay-out is below par. Lately senior management has been doing a really good job of communicating what's going on to the lower levels. Pay is very competitive and opportunities exist for highly motivated professionals. The low-cost cafeteria has an excellent chef. We can get free coffee and herbal teas. From what I’ve seen in two and half years most people here are very professional. The reward in working at this company is knowing that you can help a great deal of people with what you make and sell! Nothings more meaningful than that – otherwise we would all be just trading stocks all day!
