layoffs

about
Not surprised about recent layoffs at TMO/AP. Upper management - consisting of laid off Abbott wannabes who live in the sales world of the '80's/'90's - must be paid their bonuses. Employees barely exist in a world of stress and fear. Very sad.

Thermo Fisher - DON"T

about
Thermo Fisher is a horrible employer! Management is a "good old boys network" and so politics are often more important than hard work for getting ahead. The company's management philosophy is "You should be happy to have a job" and it's managed for the Next Quarter instead of managing for a long-term healthy company. If you can find work elsewhere, you will be happier.

The truth behind what look so good at thermo.

about
I had work at TMO for a while.I had never seen everyone was so hungry for power like right now.cause seen PPI was created.Did the program is worked well or not.but poeple are hugnry to get involve to get promotion.Friendship are promoted.Created the whole system of power.Employee are the one suffer to worked harder and be threaten. The Vallue stream was create to run around to push employee to work harder.Value stream member did not understand any kind of jobs rather than talking and made everyone run around like they are stupid did not know how to do their job. They make everyone confuse and can not concentrate on their job.I did not exactly understand what job The VALUE STREAM member had done at Thermo beside They push everyone working hard.

sick days

about
recent policy change eliminates paid sick days for employees who were unfortunate enough to have worked here long enough to earn maximum vacation of 25 days.employees with less than 15 years of service had their 5 sick days rolled into their vacation allowance.in short-newer employees rewarded with 5 additional vacation days while those of us who built this company are penalized.

Need to be more "value" focused and less "cheap".

about
The atmosphere is highly political. The company is a mish mash of former M&As, with no sense of corporate integration or culture. The company is heavily stacked with experienced engineers which can make it difficult for younger engineers to move up the ranks.
The current financial position of the company has led to multiple layoffs and corporate restructuring, leaving behind a wave of overworked employees with little incentive or motivation to stay with the company

Do not work IT in the colonies

about
At corporate offices, the IT culture is busy, but healthy. At remote BU sites, it is far from that. F-U-D are the rules of the day.
