LAYOFFS

about
33 SEN. EMP. LAYED OFF<ME> got bumped to unloading and out on bottom of sen. list. hours cut n half. Was an excellant employee, but no longer feel that ups has the integrity it once had. I dont trust them any longer. WHILE the mgrs. drive off to their fancy houses, i wonder how i'm going to have money to eat. MEAN time they are trying everything to cut my pay. WHY dont they cut theirs a little-they make tripple what i do. I'M a female who crawls up her steps at night too sore to move,in tears.54 years old and all of a sudden unloading n a truck! SO not fair! THEY let combo people take my job AFTER 33 YEARS-not right!

if you report an injury on the job, you get harassed, they lie and say you got hurt off the job, then you have to wait a year to get paid after they drag you through the mud...has happened to me twice here in ny ...pathetic

spend 30 years with this company

about
I used to be a UPS employee in their Atlanta corporate office doing marketing. it was trully a unique and heart breaking experience. My manager who worked there for 30 years ended up having hard core health related issues because of working too hard. After giving her 6 months of short term disability (they can not not do it because of the law) they let her go as she did not recover fully. The way it was carried out was disgusting. After that i realized that i do not want spend 30 years with this company and then find myself out the door.

Otherwise, it is a conservative environment. they have strict rules about dress code, behavior, etc. It is led by a bunch of ex truckers who are passionate about UPS but do not really understand the business environment of today. I have heard high level managers say things that would make one wonder if they know how to add the numbers right

UPS is ridiculous. They consistently deliver when I'm not home and require a signature in PERSON on everything. And now, the most absurd thing ever just happened this week. I missed package and asked to change the address and oh guess what, they now charge for that service! $4 because the idiot drivers decide to try and deliver at the same time every day. Can't schedule a delivery time and have to pay to change address....ridiculous.

LayoFF experts

Ups Has padded the pockets of management long enough!! Management makes bonehead decision's for 6 digit salaries. People wake up we as teamsters make UPS their billions while the blue collar gets slapped in the face with layoffs. Lets hold UPS's feet to the fire take our jobs back they promised and rid the company of over paid management.

Layoffs

about
This whole year I have been living in fear of loosing my job. Our volume is maybe half of what it was 2 years ago. They have cut back hourly positions, understaffed our shifts so we have to work harder. Already several locations in the area were shut down completely. I spent a few months on what they call "active layoff" where I am not working, but cannot collect unemployment. Most likely I will get the permanent boot in January when volume drops off again.

UPS -- Lousy Service

about
I was called out of town unexpectedly. While I was away UPS made their three delivery attempts of a package that required a signature. I called to arrange delivery now that I was home. I was told I had to wait for the postcard that was sent. After a week the card arrives. I call again. I take a day off work so I will be available for signature. The window I am given is 9 am & 7 pm. At 7 pm I call as no package has arrived. After being on the phone for over 45 minutes a supervisor tells me that the package "for some reason" wasn't put on the truck. Telling them that I can't take another day off work they finally agree to send the package to my work address in two days. However, the next day there is another slip on my door for attempted delivery. When I call they assure me that I will hear from the local office by 10 am the next morning to confirm the delivery to my work address. The next day I do receive a call that tells me that it will be another day before it is delivered. There is no way they can get it to me that day as I had been told. I drove to work rather than take public transportation so I could get the package home so that meant I had to drive another day. The only compensation or gesture to restore customer satisfaction and confidence was that they didn't charge me for the change of delivery address!! Seriously, for a firm that claims they are " a global company with one of the most recognized and admired brands in the world" they need to go back to Customer service 101. After this experience I definitely DO NOT admire them!

We are proudly among the top twenty most admirable companies in the business, as far as their employee choice is concerned. The handful of companies that have consistently won the applause of their peers have adapted to the changing environment in ways that Darwin never dreamed of, and they plan to keep it up. UPS is a prime example: It has a fleet of about 1,550 alternative-fuel delivery trucks, including 50 new-generation hybrid-electric vehicles that will cut fuel consumption by 44,000 gallons a year.

Layoffs-Terminations

about
What do you call a termination with a severance package? Is it the new layoff (reduction in force); I have received a severance package with an agreement that I will never apply for work at UPS or any of it subsidiaries in the future; as though I would want to work at "Brown Plantation" again..
