I worked for Universal American for two years and it was the worst two years of my life. Management did not know what they were doing. I had more industry knowledge than people that were over me. I worked with the sales team and most of them did not even care about the Seniors they were servicing. The Sales Team was the reason why we were sanctioned and lost our jobs

Unjust, and Corrupt in 2011

Universal American is the most unjust and corrupt company to exist. They have built their business on the degregation of it's employees and members. They will step on anyone to reach a goal. Their management team is a joke, with cliques of 3 or so unknowledgable managers lazi-ing around and refusing to complete anything resembling work. Texting away on their Blackberrys and laughing over their Starbucks coffees at the 5 people they just agreed to un-justly fire who were actually with the company longer than they were. Sneaky emails,and underhanded plots to terminate employees who weren't cut-out copies of themselves, and refused to sell their souls . These people are willing to trade their own children for a quick buck. There is no loyalty, no friendship, and no "greater good" within this company. If it is the devil you seek, you don't have to look far, he exists here within the prestigiously horrid walls of the solon, ohio location; also known as the VP of Operations. Along with his
hive of exceptionally deviant, and malicious drones he is able to bark out any heinous order and rest assured that it will be completed. Falsyfying claims, altering employee statements, along with extreme racisim, and favortisim. Promoting on a "who knows who" basis and silencing anyone who dares to speak against it. Smirks form across their faces as they walk a mother of 2 out of the building and into the freezing October rain, she has just been fired after 3 years of service for taking an "extended break", her first offense and one that is never actually proven. As she stands in the rain waiting for her ride to pick her up she turns and asks if she can please stand within the foyer where it is warm. Only laughter flows from them. Like they would ever show her a drop kindness. Don't be fooled. These are not honorable people, despite their "Lead by Example" Manager mantra... I should know I used to be one of them.

Horrible Work Culture

Universal American is the worst company to work for in the city of houston. They use you and dump you as so as there is a sneeze in the economy. The management is horrible with 85 % VPs and 15s junior staff. The culture is a back stabing system where the click you join determines your progress.The IT department sucks as well, run for your life when you hear universal american...dont look back

Universal American is laying off all it's office Administrators as of October the 1st, 2010. Branches offices will be compensated directly to pay for staff but they will no longer provide benefits of any kind. Basically, admins. will be paid out of the P&L for the specific branches but will not be UA employess. That means no benefits: Health, Dental, nothing. You will be getting a severance package but I'm not sure of the details on that yet. If you are an admin. with a Universal American branch expect this in October and expect a pay cut as well.

Yeah they're a great company as long as you aren't part of the administrative team. If you are, guess what? You're about to lose your job. Universal American will be laying off all Administrators as of October 1st, 2010. That's right and they planned on doing it via email. They'll be compensating individual branches directly and those branches can pay for administators if they'd like but say goodbye to all your benefits. - Anonymous

Caring Management

Universal American believes in doing the right thing for the people. The company is also very concerned and involved with their employees well being. This is a company founded on the principle of doing the right thing. The department in which I work is a consistently busy department, so the job is stable. I think that if you find the right department and the right group of people to work with, it would be a great place to work. We have great benefits including good health care selections and excellent paid time off. The people are great here on a personal level and business level. The benefits are very comprehensive and will make it difficult for you to want to leave.
