Mrs. McCarthy was and will forever be my favorite teacher by far. She was kind, beautiful, talented, and was very devoted to her students. What made me think of her today, was a song I heard at my niece's school choir concert: "Can you feel the love tonight". Every morning before class, she'd play the piano and we'd all sing this, and other songs. Even back then when it was a newer movie, i think "The Lion King" was probably her favorite movie. That and every other song from that movie will always have a special place in my memories, because of this great woman.
I was part of the final class she ever taught. Shortly after 5th grade ended, I heard of her death. She died of breast cancer. No one outside her family and a few of her closest friends knew she was ill. I went to her memorial service, as did many of my old classmates. I wasnt the only student that loved her.. You are greatly missed, Mrs. McCarthy.
