Financial Aid

about
I go to school to receive a high quality education and completed my Bachelor and Master degree as Magna Cum Laude and with distinction. So you can see I am all about education and my career.
I started Argosy University in May 2012 with great excitement to obtain my Doctorate degree "Organization and Leadership" with recommendation of another student. Since this is another avenue with high expectations I decided not to accept any summer assignments for additional pay because I wanted to focus on my studies this session and get a handled of the online and classroom environment.
My disappointment has come with the delay of financial aid. It's now July and still I have not been awarded financial aid. I keep hearing we are behind and nothing is wrong with your packaging hopefully it will be soon. There has only been one general announcement from the school about financial aid. Lack of communication is really bad with Argosy University.
Where is the financial aid director? The director is getting paid I am sure a substantial salary and he/she can't communication the problem that going on with our accounts. Why can't I get a timeline to getting cleared with my account? Is Argosy University financial aid office working overtime to clear this out? However, I got 2 bills saying I owe 6027.00 to Argosy University without any problem. Now it is time to register for next session. Will Argosy allow students with a balance to register? Will I attend the following session? Heck no! Has this cause any stress financially? yes Has this affect my enthusiasm to complete assignments? yes Got to post just to keep Argosy University from messing up my account per another student.

To give Argosy the rating about financial aid I think they deserve I marked everything as poor however, the instructor I had last class was awesome.

Stay Away from any of these for profit schools especially Argosy...

about
I have been through Argosy's program and by the time you get to your internship they already pimped you out of money so if the internship does not work out. Especially if you have a lazy supervisor like I had and two ignorant, dumb co-directors in training, and the worst ever seminar instructor (who had no experience by the way). I am in the process of attempting to repeat the internship after these morans threw me out and if they cause any more trouble for me I will sue the pants off them. Btw, if anyone else has been ripped off by Argosy let me know. These people discriminate and use unfair business practices to get students then they go back and kick you out and can't tell u why. I don't know how many reviews I read where other students from different Argosy's have encountered the same abuse that I have. They take your money and then try to kick you out before you can finish. I had some decent teachers and some not so decent; however, the internship was a living hell and the meetings that were used to dispose of me were unethical to say the very least. If you are considering this school don't go to any of them. You will regret it!!!! They are about your money and that's all. They don't even keep good relationships with their internship sites that's why they are limited in what they can offer you because most sites stop housing Argosy interns because they don't want to deal with the school. I will admit the good professors I had would have made good seminar instructors, but its funny how most of the good professors no longer teach there. Please- if I can save one student from being blindsided into going to this school I will feel like I made a difference because this school has left me thousands of dollars in debt and no degree three years later.

These idiots stopped me from graduating on time...

about
Silly me did not do my reviews before I went to the school. Now it is 2 years later and atleast $70,000 in debt and I will have to wait a year to graduate. They sent me to a Practicum and Intership site that I ended up being pulled from cause my stupid supervisor couldn't do ish to help me meet my requirements on time. I am so mad they sent me to a site and I ended up failing because my semiar instructor, the co-directors in training, and my supervisor decided to pull me and could not tell me why. Please DON'T WASTE A DIME ON THIS SCHOOL u will live to regret it if u do!!! Please go elsewhere.

Now that I have reached dissertation status in Argosy's Education degree program, I am beginning to experience a horrific service and assistance with its faculty and administrators. My current chair is running for Fulton County Commissioner and has little time for me and my dissertation. He has had it for review since January 2010 and it is now May 2010 and he has admitted to not having the time to read it. As a result, I have sent multiple emails requesting a dissertation chair change and have not been acknowledged AT ALL! Argosy is expensive and treats its adult students horribly!

I do not appreciate how the list of practicum sites we had to choose from were completely outdated and many sites would not allow Argosy Students. Additionally, many sites told students that Argosy University Atlanta contacted them for placement much later than other Atlanta institutions. If I could go back, I would have studied harder for the GRE and gone to another university rather than take the easy way out. In the long run, I will have to teach myself information that was not given to me at Argosy. May professors gave As to the entire class and it was not earned. It might look nice to have a high GPA due to this but it makes Argosy look bad. Many of the professors are a joke. The only ones that are actually knowledgeable, challenging, and teach you practical information are Dr. Doverspike, Dr. Mckleskey, Dr. Iodice, and Dr. Fitch in the Community Counseling program.

You must really find a way for yourself after graduation. I have heard stories of graduates opening private practices and making 100,000 and people who pursued EdD and PsyD and are looking for jobs in daycares.

Do your research and choose wisely.

Argosy experiences

about
Argosy, in general, is a bad investment given the high tuition and the "for-profit" nature of the university. I know a lot of people who pursued a Psy.D. in clinical psychology who later dropped out because they found that it wasn't worth the emotional, financial, or time investment. I would highly recommend anyone considering this school to pursue other options.
